  • Playbook: Understanding MODERATION Through Simulation

    By Mladen Jovanovic on 31/12/2013

Playbook: Understanding MODERATION Through Simulation Introduction I recently spoke with my college professor regarding the understanding of statistics, and I remarked that I learn the statistical concept the best (and with full comprehension) through simulation. He remarked that I might be in the minority of students (p<0.01 – see what I did here?). Not sure if this is true...

  • Interview With Mike Boyle

    By Mladen Jovanovic on 30/12/2013

There are four coaches that were highly influential on my physical preparation philosophy and practice. The first one that actually started my whole journey was late Charlie Francis. Joe Kenn and Dan Baker come next. Then there is Mike Boyle.

  • How to Visualize Test Change Scores for Coaches [Part 2]

    By Mladen Jovanovic on 26/12/2013

To continue the previous How to visualize test change scores for coaches blogpost, here is another way to visualize individual change scores without falling for group averages. This way we can easily see individual ranks in both pre- and post- test, along with change score (which is also color coded). Quite easy to identify the outliers.

  • Interview With Steve Magness

    By Mladen Jovanovic on 17/12/2013

I have been quoting, referencing, linking and stealing (cough, cough) Steve’s material heavily in my writings and practical applications. I cannot recommend his blog highly enough for anyone interested in no B.S. approach to endurance training and understanding of energy systems and metabolism.

    By Mladen Jovanovic on 26/11/2013

I decided to interview Dan again and I hope this to be practice in the future as well (every 2-3 years J). I am more than thankful to Dan for his time and good will to answer all of my questions extensively, honestly, personally and insightfully like he always does.

  • Understanding Inferential Statistics Using Correlation Example

    By Mladen Jovanovic on 19/11/2013

In the following R and knitr experiment/blog post I will be documenting my play with correlation and inferences. I am just reading Discovering Statistics Using R by Andy Field and I am trying to code some staff from the book, plus experiment and see how inferential statistics work.

  • Biological Planning, Organizing, and Programming for Physical Preparation – Part2

    By Mladen Jovanovic on 18/11/2013

Many coaches have preached a very simple way of planning training over the years. That is, to start from the end and work backwards. For instance, if you know your first competition is 16 weeks away, you would simply plan, organize, and program your training in the general preparation period based on this known date. When...

  • Interview with Ida Clark

    By Mladen Jovanovic on 14/11/2013

Interview with Ida Clark I was lucky enough to be introduced to Ida Clark by professor Robert Pettitt, with whom she did a lot of research on CP/W’ and CV/D’ models, along with 3 minute test (3 MT). The presentation that Ida Clark did on Critical Power and Graded Exercise Testing is a great resource that I have posted...
