Athlete Monitoring: Data Analysis and Visualization

Calendar Heatmap

Although bar and line plots are great in visualizing athlete monitoring time-series data, they are not really good at communicating alignment of the data with the calendar/week, which might be very useful in catching patterns. For this reason, a novel calendar heatmap visualization is beneficial. For example, we might immediately notice a calendar/week pattern in missing data or training structure (hard-medium-easy) that might be impossible with the bar and line plots.

In this lesson, I will show you how easily you can create the calendar heatmaps using the athletemonitoring package with only a few lines of code.
