Published Paper on Bias in Sprint Modeling
By Mladen Jovanovic on 02/02/2023I am happy to announce that my pre-print paper “Bias in estimated short sprint profiles using timing gates due to the flying start” has been published in Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering. This publication is my last requirement for publishing and defending my Ph.D. thesis. Hopefully, finishing everything during the first half of this year.

Managing the Team Using a Simple Visual Board
By Mladen Jovanovic on 09/01/2023The recent developments and increased affordability of technology in sports created a certain belief that teams must collect and analyze a tremendous amount of data to monitor and manage their athletes. This involves, but is not limited to, GPS and positional data, morning wellness and heart-rate variability (HRV), blood analysis, jump analysis, movement screens, sleep patterns, and game analyses.

Optimal Force-Velocity Profile for Sprinting: Is It All Bollocks? – Part 6
By Mladen Jovanovic on 01/01/2023In this sixth and final installment of this article series, I will explore whether the “causal” interpretation of the Force-Velocity Profiling "holds water” using N=1 testing.

Optimal Force-Velocity Profile for Sprinting: Is It All Bollocks? – Part 4
By Mladen Jovanovic on 07/12/2022In the previous installment, I have demonstrated how to perform sensitivity/optimization analysis of the Acceleration-Velocity Profile (AVP) using (1) probing method and (2) slope method. In this installment I will explain how to do it using the Force-Velocity Profile (FVP).

Optimal Force-Velocity Profile for Sprinting: Is it all bollocks? – Part 3
By Mladen Jovanovic on 21/11/2022In the next two parts of this article series, I will explain how the optimization of the Force-Velocity Profile (FVP) works. Before jumping into FVP optimization, I will first explain the same reasoning using the Acceleration-Velocity Profile (AVP) since it is easier to comprehend.

Optimal Force-Velocity Profile for Sprinting: Is It All Bollocks? – Part 2
By Mladen Jovanovic on 27/10/2022In the previous part, I introduced two models to map out the velocity-time relationship in short sprints, while in this article, I will focus on the characteristics of the mono-exponential model.

Optimal Force-Velocity Profile for Sprinting: Is It All Bollocks? – Part 1
By Mladen Jovanovic on 21/10/2022In this article series I will provide my opinion regarding the use of Force-Velocity Profile (FVP) optimization for short sprints (i.e., the sprints where there is no deceleration).
