Cold Water Immersion as a Recovery Strategy in High-Performance Athletes

Cold Water Immersion (CWI) has become one of the most accepted recovery methods due to its increasing popularity within elite sporting environments, yet CWI continues to be misunderstood.

In this video presentation, I dive into the research of CWI as a recovery method in high-performance athletes, firstly establishing its perceived need due to demanding training programs while also establishing the physiological basis of how cold therapies affect recovery processes.

I also address some of the misconceptions of cold therapies, such as their role in adaptation, and conclude by offering objective, evidence-informed practical applications on how, why, and when you should and should not implement CWI as a recovery method within your athlete’s training schedule.
