I have wonder what test of MAS will be the best for youth soccer team (U16). Do you use it with young players?
I read D.Baker article, and he advised 5min run on track or 1600m run on time, but also on track. I’m not sure that I understood well the calculation of time and differences in MAS result with COD tests (shuttle runs etc.). Could you explain it?
Thanks a lot!
There are couple of articles/videos that go into details, but the general idea is to correct for COD time loss (which is ~0.7 sec per 180deg turn).
I guess the easiest test would be 1200m run (aim for 5-6min duration) – depends how young they are.
Yes, Nathan Heaney did a study on that: https://nathanheaney.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/heaney-williams-lorenzen-kemp-2009-comparison-of-a-yoyo-ir1-test-and-a-vo2max-test-as-determination-of-training-speeds-and-evaluation-of-aerobic-fitness.pdf
But due the design of the YoYo you can’t convert without too much error
