Problems with PowerPivot

I have experienced one problem with PowerPivot and wanted to give users some tips how to solve it.

With recent update of Microsoft Windows, PowerPivot somehow stops loading. The solution is to remove the update or install Hot Fix. You can find more info here:

Also, make sure to do backups of you important documents when using Hot Fix.

I bought a new computer (Windows 8, Office 365 Home edition), and I am not able to install PowerPivot. People from Microsoft Brasil doesn’t help, they only say that the Home Edition doesn’t run PowerPivot… do you have any tip?

Mladen, I am missing some point, probably… after populate the workbook with some atual information (last week’s training), it doesn’t work properly at my computer (no PowerPivot). I then tried to open the file at another computer running Excel 2010 with PowerPivot, but it doesn’t work… It can’t initialize the database… I need help!!

Hi Nelio,

Without PowerPivot 2013 it won’t run. You will need PowerPivot and Excel 2013.

Hi Mladen,
I have problems with power pivot in excel 2010. I have power pivot instaled but when I click it appears: “initialization error data source”.

Can you helpe me??
