Lesson 7: Tapering for Competition
Tapering can be seen as the final training phase before a competition, which allows recovery and peak and peak performance not usually seen in training. Tapering aims to achive three key things:
- Maintain technical abilities
- Maintain core abilities
- Allow dissipation of fatigue
In this video, Mike Tuchscherer goes into much more details about the planning of the sound tapering strategy (see figures below for more info)
Additional topics that are covered are the use of GPP and recovery modalities, as well as visualization techniques. What was interesting to me personally is how Mike differentiates between Tape and Realization block (final block in the Block training system).
